Plug In America is a California-based advocacy group for electric and hybrid vehicles. They strive to help people get informed about available vehicles, future electric vehicle options, and industry news and events.
Between blogs, news, articles, membership, and other related info, the main focus of PIA's website - electric vehicles - was getting lost in the jumble. PIA wanted to showcase electric vehicles in order to become on online knowledge base for electric vehicle information. They also wanted each vehicle profile to offer a wealth of information - a "one-stop shop" for vehicle information.
We created an electric vehicle database complete with multimedia, stats, and automatic links to posts about each vehicle from Plug In America's "Behind the Driver's Seat" blog. We also re-created the website's information architecture, categorizing content into seven main navigational items to keep pages from overwhelming users with too many links. A new design was created on top of the new information architecture, using oranges, blues, and dark neutrals to give the website a fun, but still professional, look and feel.
